Woodie and Linda Harman
Linda and I would like to express our sympathy to the family. We are sorry for your loss. Mr. Bowen was my favorite coach and I like to think we had a special bond. He took a liking to me from the first day of football practice. Maybe he had seen something in me that reminded him of his self and it was not only our height. Before reading his obit I did not realize that he played football, basketball and baseball just like me. In my senior year remember he was catcher in baseball just like me. He played me even though I had a sore arm and taught me how to compensate for it. I will always remember him for his kindness and patience. He was my role model.
Mrs. Bowen, I'm sure you don't remember this, but one of Woodie and I's first dates was visiting Mr. Bowen when he was in the hospital at Memorial Hospital in 1962. He always showed his approval of our relationship. He made us feel like we truly were good teenagers and good for each other. We are proud to say that you and Mr. Bowen were exceptional role models and Woodie and I celebrated out 53rd Wedding Anniversary this year. We loved him and just wanted you to know that God gave you had a very good man to call your husband!!
