Obituary for
Mary M. Brubaker (Reinbott)
Mary M. Brubaker, 99 of York, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Harry Brubaker.
Born January 12, 1918 in Essex, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara (Chaney) Reinbott.
Mary graduated from Dexter Missouri High School and attended Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau, MO.
She was a veteran of World War II, stationed at Paris France and worked at Army Headquarters at the time of VE Day. She joined the WAC, which later became the Women’s Army Corps. Mary was one of the first 12 women discharged overseas at Camp Phillip Morris, staying on as a Civil Service worker in Frankfort, Germany until returning to the U.S.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church since 1949 where she was very active in the United Methodist Women’s groups and enjoyed teaching, serving and cooking banquet dinners. She also belonged to the Yorktowne Senior Center and the former Half-Century at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church for over 38 years. Mary volunteered at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels.
Mary is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Brubaker of Philadelphia, PA and Carol Miller and her husband Tyrone of York, eight grandchildren, Kirby, Christopher and Ryan Charleston, Whitney Morrison, Tyler and Ashley Miller; all of York, Lindsay Combs of Manitou Springs, CO and Lauren Logiovino of Fort Myers, FL. She is also survived by nineteen great grandchildren, a sister, Ruth Bauman of Denver, CO and a brother, Martin Reinbott of Bertrand, MO. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 11 North Richland Ave., York, PA with the Rev. Mike Brossman and the Rev. Roland Garvin officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with military rites provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
