Obituary for Beatrice Rose Simonetta (Pomilia)

Beatrice Rose Simonetta, 92, of York died Monday, August 28, 2017 at The Haven at Springwood. She was the wife of the late John Leonard Simonetta. They were married for 54 years prior to John’s death in 2001.

Born December 25, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Angela (Bartolotta) Pomilia.

Family was very important to Beatrice. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was devoted to her Catholic faith. She was fun and feisty and loved by all. Beatrice was spoiled by her husband and Lisa because of love. She is so missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa and her husband, Glenn Kurcheski of York; son, Jack and his wife, Cyndi Simonetta of Shelby Township, MI; three grandsons, John Russell Simonetta-Kurcheski (Gina) of New Jersey, Brandon Glenn Kurcheski (Wiley) of York, and David Simonetta (Kelly) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two granddaughters, Nicole Rogers (Brent) of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Jacquelynn Corce of Shelby Township, MI; and 10 great-grandchildren, Quest, Kruz, John, Kaleb, Isabella, Sophia, Angelina, Brent, Jr., Victoria, and Jaxon. She was preceded in death by three brothers.

A memorial mass will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 219 S. Beaver Street, York with Rev. Keith M. Carroll officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00-10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A special thank you to the entire staff at The Haven at Springwood and the hospice nurses. They loved Beatrice and she truly loved them.

Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York, PA 17403.
