Joan E. Whitecomb (Fillmore)
Joan E. Whitecomb, 83, of East Prospect died peacefully, Friday, August 25, 2017 at the York Hospital. Born in Mount Wolf on October 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Beulah (McCleary) Fillmore. Joan was the loving wife of 66 years of Russel Whitecomb.
Joan was a loving homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Nathan Whitecomb and his wife, Ashley, Rachel Gilmore and her spouse, Yolanda, Wesley Rice and his wife, Meghan, and Kendyl Rice and her husband, Brian King, and her great granddaughter, Charlotte Rice. She was a faithful member of Calvary Bible Church, Wrightsville.
In addition to her husband, grandchildren and great granddaughter, Joan is survived by her son, James R. Whitecomb and his wife, Judith A. of York, her sisters, Phyllis Frey and her husband, Dale of Wrightsville and Gloria Walker and her husband, Robert of Wrightsville, and her brother Dale Fillmore and his wife, Debbie of Denver, PA.
A funeral service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Bible Church, 125 Calvary Church Road, Wrightsville, with Pastor Joe L. Fauth officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Viewings for Joan will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. both at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to Calvary Bible Church, 125 Calvary Church Road, Wrightsville, PA 17368, to help with the church’s building fund.
