Obituary for
Robert A. Youmans
Robert A. Youmans, 89, of Wrightsville, died on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Henderson, NV. He was the husband of Audrey Youmans of Wrightsville. Bob was born in Newark, NJ, the son of the late William and Norma Youmans.
At age 17, he joined the Navy Seabees and served in World War II.
After the Navy, he attended Patterson Commercial College where he met Audrey, his wife of 67 years. They moved to Pennsylvania to work in the family textile business. He eventually became President and CEO of Loma Weaving Co., the last remaining silk mill in the U.S.
Bob was a devoted husband and father and deeply committed to his faith. He taught Sunday School and served as both an elder and Clerk of Session. He served as Vice Moderator of the Presbytery of Donegal and was a trustee of what is now known as Presbyterian Senior Living.
In later years, he and his wife, split their time between their homes in Wrightville and Henderson, NV.
In addition to his wife Bob is survived by four children, R. Barry Youmans, Debra Resh, Rebecca Kopp and W. Gordon Youmans; eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two sisters Jean Sherwood, Norma DeBlock and brother Butch Youmans.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Wrightsville Presbyterian Church, 205 North 2nd Street, Wrightsville.
