Ruth Barshinger Warner
Ruth Barshinger Warner, 96, of Red Lion died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Donald M. Warner. Ruth and Donald were married 72 years at his death on October 16, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Earl A. and Edith (Neff) Barshinger.
Loved dearly by her family, she is survived by 2 daughters, Yvonne Gemmill of Dallastown and JudyBeth Miller and her husband, James of Red Lion; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth A. Warner of York. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald H. Warner and a grandson, Michael J. Warner.
Ruth was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Red Lion where she was a teacher of the Four Fold Friends Sunday School Class. She was a past member of the church Pastor-Parrish committee, the Board of Trustees and the Administrative Board.
She was a member of the Visiting Nurse Association Board. Ruth served as President of the Auxiliary of the Red Lion Country Club. She announced and was a reader on her husband’s radio and television programs. Ruth was a tutor in the tutoring program of the Red Lion Elementary Schools.
Ruth loved her family and enjoyed cooking, traveling, and reading. She was a wonderful Christian role model, admired and respected by many throughout the community.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 West Broadway, Red Lion with the Rev. Ronald Doverspike, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. A viewing will be held Monday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
