Obituary for
William Albert "Billy" Emenheiser
William (Billy) Albert Emenheiser, 90, entered peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 11:56 a.m. as a resident of Dallastown Nursing Center. He was the husband of Doris (Lentz) Emenheiser, his wife of 64 years. The couple married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1953.
Mr. Emenheiser was born in York County on February 16, 1927, and was the son of the late William and Emma (Hilt) Emenheiser.
William attended York City Schools and entered the work force with employment at several local dairies including Arnold’s, Sutcliff’s and Green’s. He retired in 1989 from the former York County Area Vocational Technical School where he served as head custodian for twenty one years. William was an active lifelong member of Yorkshire U.M. Church, York, having been born and baptized into the church as an infant. His service in the church included being a Sunday School teacher, Lay Leader, Lay Delegate to Annual Conference and Administrative Board member in addition to serving on various other boards and committees. He was also a life member of the York County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
Mr. Emenheiser is survived by a daughter Lila Sue Metzel and husband, Keith, of Dallastown; two grandchildren, Micah Metzel of Shrewsbury, and Cora Shields and husband, Matthew, of Dallastown. He is also survived by a sister, Mae Blessing of York, a brother, James Emenheiser and wife, Hazel, of Dallastown as well as several nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Emenheiser, in addition to two brothers, Jack Emenheiser and Robert Emenheiser.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2017, at Trinity Life Center, 16 South Charles Street, Dallastown, PA 17313. A service to celebrate the life of William Emenheiser will begin at 2 p.m. following visitation. Rev. Roger Mentzer will officiate at the service. Interment will be in Mount Rose Cemetery, York, PA, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Worship Technology Fund at Bethlehem U.M. Church, 109 East Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313.
The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation and thanks to the dedicated and compassionate staff of Dallastown Nursing Center, Dallastown, PA. Dad’s final months of life were filled with smiles, caring love and acts of compassion on a constant basis. The family expresses the same appreciation and thanks to the staff and volunteers of Grane Hospice, York, PA, for providing a dignified and comfortable journey as his life came to an end on this earth.
