Obituary for
Beverly Marie Glatfelter
Beverly Marie Glatfelter, 58, of York passed away at her home on Saturday, October 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of David A. Glatfelter. Dave and Bev celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on August 16, 2016.
Born May 7, 1958 in York, she was the daughter of Rodney B. Beck of York and the late Fay Corinne (Brown) Beck.
Bev was an elementary school teacher in the Southern York County School District for over 30 years. She taught 1st grade for the last 18 years at Shrewsbury Elementary School.
Bev was a 1976 graduate of Central York High School where she played volleyball and was a cheerleader. She received her Bachelor of Science in Teacher Education from Shippensburg University in 1980 where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. She also received her Master’s Equivalency from Penn State and Millersville University. Bev was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International of Women Educators, and PSEA.
Bev enjoyed spending time with her family. She volunteered to coach her daughter’s soccer team and was very supportive with both her children’s sporting teams. Her family was everything to her.
She is survived by her son, Bradley D. Glatfelter of Burke, VA; her daughter, Jenna M. and her husband, Daniel P. Mills of Parkville, MD; 1.2 grandchildren, Joseph D. Glatfelter; a sister, Barbara A. and her husband, Dr. David A. Guthrie of Chambersburg; and 2 nieces and 6 nephews. Bev is also survived by her 2 grandkittrens and granddogter as she would call them.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, with Rev. Richard D. Smith, her pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Saturday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the church.
